advice as a hair stylist. try the gk bombshell sylver shampoo it really neutralizes without turning purple. the trick for neutralizing is this: the 3 primary colors together always (red+ yellow+ blue). lets say you got gold blond (YELLOW) will need PURPLE (BLUE + RED) to neutralize. if u use blue on yellow the mix is the secondary color (green). lets say u got brassy hair (warm tones) ORANGE= (YELLOW+ RED) therefore u need (BLUE). now lets say u want to neutralize your red hair before going blond to avoid orangy hair... RED is neutralize with GREEN (BLUE+ YELLOW). thats it girls mixing up the color you want with the correct base will give you perfect color. now lets say you have and ORANGE tone and you use PURPLE base or purple shampoo...ORANGE= (YELLOW+ RED) PURPLE= (BLUE+ RED) Its too lil' what the blue can do for u while ur adding red along with it. hope the way I explained it was understandable and helpfull
Literally just stood in the middle of Ulta for an eternity deciding between those exact brands and options. This is the only video that popped up for me when I googled 👏
You can definitely tell. Glad I went with the gut and stuck with purple
I got both purple and blue Shampoo from Joico. So I was scared to do the blue. I got the purple Shampoo and added a few drops of blue. Mixed it and it can out violet. It made my hair icey with a touch of blue tint that looks super cool.
This is going to sound weird but I have an extra cone in my eye most people have three I have an extra one which is yellow so I see a lot of colors more than the average person and just looking at you guys I can completely see the color I'm both of you not just one of you when you guys turn your head what it's doing is the shine of your hair when you're reflecting off a light is coming back as the color you put in your hair but I could see it like really clearly but I don't know how other people see it. As you know the meaning of highlights of course it's just lighter color put on your hair to give an illusion of a certain color but they're not technically genuine highlights what you guys just put in your hair that is what they should refer to as a highlight because bat color comes out when it hits the light and it's a high color and it's a the light is bringing it through so yeah those are genuine highlights
Thanks for this! I am a natural dark blonde and I just got light highlights yesterday. Several years ago, I was told to use blue shampoo when I bleached my hair, but this time the hairdresser used purple and I wasn’t sure what I really needed. I can see now that the yellow tones I was never quite able to get out of my hair previously remained because I SHOULD’VE been using purple shampoo, and I think that’s what I need now as per your results. :)
I have to say right off the bat, you each have a different color and tone of hair - which will have different results. The left is orange mid tone, the right is very light pale yellow. I could already see the results before you two started - great video though!
Btw I didn't mean the comment in a harsh way, I edited my comment to make sure my intent came across correctly! I understand, I just wanted to point out since you two said the exact same hair so you could see which was better - you would be better with one, and her with the other, based on the color and tones of each of yours. Now you will know though!
Because your hair is two toned, your roots could use blue (for dark brassy orange hair) but your ends need purple (for light brassy yellow/orange hair). This is why it’s best to let a professional do it, they will use different tones for the different colors in your hair and blend them together down the hair shaft properly. Color theory is REAL. Never use blue on yellow, because blue and yellow make green.
Jenna Leiva I’ve seen so many of videos like yours, I really do hope people learn something from them. Getting your color just right at home can be a real pain, but especially when working to try to get the right shade & tone of blonde that you’re aiming for. And then maintaining it with right toning shampoos too. Ugh. Good luck!!!
On both of you, the blue side looks better to me. Way more health & natural looking... No offense intended only my opinion, the purple side is giving more of a dogs hair kinda look but sometimes, thats the look ladies with your hair texture prefer.
moustache cat I think what Launa means is my bleached hair stays white on its own and doesn’t really turn yellow like some might! Naturally I have dirty blonde hair so not nearly as light as the bleached part
Think of a color wheel. Whatever is across from a color on the color wheel is what you use to make things neutral and that’s what you want to accomplish with toner… If your hair is turning orange tones you need to put in blue tones to neutralize it. If your hair is turning yellow tones you need to put in purple to neutralize it. If your red and want to be neutral you need green. And FYI ash is blue
As a hairstylist, I find this video stupid. Blue neutralizes orange tones while purple neutralizes yellow. It’s all based on what tones your hair has. This is why non professionals should not make these types of videos
Stephanie Rosas we agree we aren’t professionals but the title was very clear about the content of the video. If you know this information then why watch? Just to make a negative comment? We made this video with the intention of showing those who may not know and fortunately it has helped many people. I think it is human nature to want to see anecdotal evidence. We listen to your feedback and try to understand where you are coming from. Either way thank you!
You have purple stains because you left the shampoo in for 10 minutes! Your hair picked up the pigment rather than just toning. Wtf is wrong with people! You don’t leave shampoo in for 10mims why would you leave pigment in? And people are actually saying this is helpful!?? Hahahaha!!!
Gem Tiger hi there! Thanks for watching. Purple shampoo is different then regular shampoo. You can leave it in for up to 30 min to act as a toner. I personally don’t use it in place of my regular shampoo but rather to tone my hair when I need it. The lighter parts of the hair will pick up the toner quicker then the more yellow parts will causing them to turn purple 😀
Thanks for video. I'm sticking with purple shampoo for my natural silvers. By the way, on recommendation from a stylist, add purple shampoo to dry hair and not wet. The result is super shiny. And I agree.
One of you at a time, and SLOW down. You talk so fast it makes my head spin. There's no information it's just like a bunch of blah blah blah let me build you up now you build me up...you could do better and make more money. Get insulted or get real, your choice and do more research, your facts are arseways!!
Curious, my roots are a darker blonde that always goes brassy orange color I hate hate hate.. I have tried doing purple toner but it seems to make the orange worse after awhile like it's lifting it.. Thoughts??? I'd like to get a prettier color. @ Jim H, Kelly S? Anyone :-)
Fanola makes the best purple and blue Toning shampoos on the market by a mile! I use them as a toner for ice white hair and they work so well. They are my must have products for platinum hair. Also Lee Staford does a great purple shampoo that gives your hair a lively ashy lilac tone if used as a toner. That is also one of my must haves and I use it a lot! Invest, you won't regret it! X
