How To Use The Contraction ‘Gotta’ (Got To) In English

09:56
How To Use The Contraction ‘Gotta’ (Got To) In English Would you like to learn how to use the contraction of ‘Got to” (GOTTA) in English? Here it is explain in more details of how to use GOTTA. See more at http://exlenglish.com/how-to-use-gonna-for-the-simple-future/ Here are some of the phrases from the video: • You gotta live • You gotta go bro I gotta go now.=I have to go now. Gotta ciggie?=Have you got a cigarette? You gotta live You gotta love You gotta be somebody You gotta shove Read more: John Lennon - It's So Hard Lyrics | MetroLyrics https://gottago.io/ Gotta Go is your free excuse-to-leave generator Create an excuse - Excuses are real calls and texts sent to your phone. Activate and wait Schedule excuses to go off in a minute or an hour. Make your escape Your phone goes off and you gotta go! Gotta is a way of writing got to that shows how these words are pronounced in the expression have got to in casual speech: have gotta. Have gotta is an informal way of saying that something is necessary or must be true. I’ve gotta leave in 15 minutes. (=it is necessary that I leave in 15 minutes) You’ve gotta be kidding. (=it must be true that you are kidding) We’ve gotta learn to get along better. (=it is necessary that we learn to get along better) In very informal language, gotta is sometimes written and spoken without have, as in these examples, which have the same meaning as the sentences above: I gotta leave in 15 minutes. You gotta be kidding. We gotta learn to get along better. With or without have, gotta is very casual, and should only be used in informal conversation or when writing a representation of informal conversation. gotta' is grammatically incorrect. It is more of a spoken form. If you want to say this with proper grammar, the equivalent would be, 'I have got to' or 'I've got to'. In the spoken form, 'got to' is shortened to 'gotta' and the word 'have' is dropped. Here are some examples: "I gotta manage my money." "I gotta obey the laws." "I gotta move to a bigger house." "I gotta impress my boss." "I gotta brush my teeth." By adding the word 'have' you can change what you are saying to express something that needs to be done in the near future. Here are some examples: "I have got to be on time to work." "I've gotta try harder at school." "I've gotta tell my wife I'll be late." "I've gotta learn more about the laws." "I've gotta clean my house today." http://www.talkenglish.com/lessondetails.aspx?ALID=2014 If you have questions or feedback…leave a comment. How To Use The Verb ‘To Know’ In English?

03:39
Do you know how to use the verb ‘to know’ to talk about people you know in English? This was a question that Wong Fei had that we answered in this video at http://exlenglish.com/how-to-use-the-verb-to-know-in-english/ “Hello teacher David. Can you help me with a doubt about the difference between know and meet. The word to know means ‘saber’ or ‘conhcer’ and the word meet is for when you are presented to someone like ‘Nice to meet you’. But my question is when to use ‘saber’ or when to use ‘conhecer’ when referring to the word know. For example: I know her, I know that, I know him. Is it always related to people.” – Wong Fei The simple answer is yes. Wong Fei’s observation is correct. We generally use ‘to know’ to refer to people as in ‘conhecer’. But there are exceptions. So, we’re recording a series of videos to help you understand this verb with lots of sample sentences so you can practice your pronunciation. * I know her. She’s really nice. * You know Mark fairly well * We know her better than we know Mark * They know Albert and John * Do they know Albert and John? * They don’t know Albert and John If you like thise video...let us know by liking it, subscribing to the channel and sharing it with your friends.
